Starlink Adds 20,000 Users Daily, Reaching 9 Million Customers
SpaceX's Starlink gained 1 million users in seven weeks to reach 9 million, adding ~20,000 users/day.
Elon Musk's satellite internet service, Starlink, has crossed a significant milestone, now connecting over nine million active customers worldwide. With an astounding rate of growth, SpaceX, the company behind Starlink, revealed this achievement just over a month after announcing it had reached eight million customers.
Rapid Expansion Fueled by High Demand
Starlink’s remarkable growth highlights its increasing global presence. The service is available in 155 countries and territories, according to a post by the company on X. "Starlink is connecting more than 9M active customers with high-speed internet across 155 countries, territories, and many other markets", the post read.
This surge means the service has gained over one million new customers in less than seven weeks, averaging more than 20,000 new users daily since early November.
Sustaining Momentum in 2025
The year 2025 has been a banner year for Starlink's parent company, SpaceX, with Starlink playing a pivotal role in its success. Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of SpaceX, recently stated on X that the satellite network is "by far" the largest driver of the company’s revenue.
From its December 2024 report of 4.6 million customers, Starlink’s user base has more than doubled within a year. By August 2025, the service had already reached 7 million customers, demonstrating its rapid adoption worldwide.
Global web traffic from Starlink users has also surged, more than doubling in 2025, according to data from Cloudflare, a cybersecurity company that tracks internet activity.
Growing Applications and Future Plans
Starlink’s appeal extends beyond individual households. Around two dozen airlines have announced plans to integrate Starlink for in-flight high-speed WiFi services. Furthermore, SpaceX has hinted that it may expand into the mobile carrier market, leveraging its satellite network for broader telecommunications services.
As it explores new markets, SpaceX is reportedly positioning itself for an initial public offering (IPO) next year. Analysts suggest the company could be valued at $1.5 trillion, with Starlink playing a critical role in its financial growth.
SpaceX’s Broader Vision

SpaceX has achieved several milestones under Musk’s leadership, including commercializing reusable rockets and becoming the leading company for launching cargo into orbit. Its progress in the satellite internet sector has addressed significant gaps in global connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
Looking ahead, SpaceX continues to align its innovations with Musk’s ambitious goals, which include colonizing Mars and potentially operating data centers in space using its massive Starship rockets.
As SpaceX closes an exceptional year of growth, Starlink’s rapid expansion solidifies its role as a key driver of the company’s success and positions it as a prominent player in global telecommunications.
