SpaceX prepares for West Coast Starlink satellite launch
SpaceX will launch 25 Starlink V2 Mini satellites from Vandenberg; live coverage begins about 30 minutes before liftoff.
SpaceX is gearing up for an early morning launch from the West Coast, as the company continues expanding its Starlink internet constellation. A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off from Space Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, carrying 25 Starlink V2 Mini satellites.
The launch is slated for 2:10:39 a.m. PST (5:10:39 a.m. EST / 1010:39 UTC), with the rocket expected to head southward upon departure. This mission, known as Starlink 17-23, marks another important step in SpaceX's efforts to provide global internet coverage through its growing satellite network.
A Milestone for Falcon 9 Booster B1082

The Falcon 9 booster designated for this mission, B1082, will be making its 20th flight since debuting in January 2024. This booster has an impressive track record, having previously supported launches for the USSF-62, OneWeb Launch 20, and NROL-145 missions, in addition to 15 Starlink missions.
Following its deployment of the satellites into orbit, the booster is targeting a landing on the drone ship, "Of Course I Still Love You", which has been stationed in the Pacific Ocean to recover the reusable rocket stage.
Live Coverage and Expectations
SpaceX plans to provide live coverage of the event, starting approximately 30 minutes before liftoff. The launch promises to be another milestone in SpaceX's mission to develop and deploy an extensive network of satellites designed to deliver high-speed internet globally.
This latest batch of Starlink satellites underscores SpaceX's commitment to maintaining a robust launch schedule and ongoing innovations in reusable rocket technology. With the Falcon 9 booster nearing its twentieth flight and a well-coordinated recovery effort in place, this mission is yet another demonstration of SpaceX's technological prowess and operational efficiency.
