Alaska, Hawaiian expand Starlink Wi-Fi to 150 aircraft

Starlink in-flight internet is now available on roughly 150 aircraft operated by Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air, marking a faster-than-expected expansion by Alaska Air Group.

The parent company said all of its regional aircraft now have Starlink installed, along with about 50 mainline jets. According to the company, that puts the rollout ahead of its previously announced schedule.

Alaska Airlines is also tying access to the service to its loyalty program. Through a sponsorship with T-Mobile, Starlink Wi-Fi will be free for Atmos Rewards members on Alaska flights. On Hawaiian flights that are already connected, the service is complimentary.

Later this month, Alaska and Hawaiian plan to launch an online portal that will let customers quickly join Atmos Rewards in order to use the updated Wi-Fi offering. The airlines said there is no fee to join the program.

Beginning in July, Atmos Rewards members will be connected to in-flight wireless internet automatically.

Alaska Airlines also said it expects its entire widebody fleet to be equipped with Starlink by the fall.
